Last week it was great to see the Axemen Centurions programme launched, and it was awesome to see so many people recognized for their contributions to our wonderful club. Great to see our Premier Men’s team have a fantastic win over Belfast along with the Croc’s having a victory over Belfast also! It was awesome to see our Premier Women’s team put up a fantastic fight against Lincoln University – so proud of this team!! Another successful event held on Saturday night with our Western theme. |
It was great to see everyone who attended getting dressed up with many a story being told about the Bucking Bull 😊 Shu’s Corner is short and sweet this week as I am very privileged to be a Liaison Officer with the All Blacks all of this week! Lastly many of you would have now heard that Budgie had a medical event last Saturday and is now at home recovering. Budgie will be off work for awhile but he so appreciative of all the messages, visits and love shown over the past few days – speedy recovery our wonderful friend! Regards Shu

CFC Centurions recognised On Thursday night the CFC Axemen arranged the launch of the Centurions. The Axemen on behalf of the club felt it was time to formally recognise and reward those former and present members who have made an enduring contribution to the Christchurch Football Club.

A CFC Centurion is a player, coach, or manager who has reached 100 Senior Grade games of service, from Under 19’s, Women to Senior/Premiers, with the Club. Service may be accumulated across seasons, teams and roles and reflects genuine contribution in the red and black colours. |
Over 67 Centurions were inducted, each Centurion given the opportunity to say a few words. Resulting in loads of stories, laughter, and great memories. One of the many highlights of the night was the joint presentations to father and son Centurions, Roger and Hamish Kilpratick, Alan and Richard Trent and Bryan and Matt Mustchin. Another induction night is scheduled for late October, another night not to be missed.
|
Every Centurion had the opportunity to share their own CFC experiences. It was really refreshing to see some of the later ex players from 2000's attend . Feel free to go to the CFC website to nominate any potential Centurions or yourself. |
Kia ora CFC Families, After some wild weather through the week, Saturday turned on a great day and we got some rugby games under way. It was fantastic to see so many teams at home this weekend, with plenty of action across the club. |
Year 7 Sharks Take On Southbridge Our Year 7 Sharks had a bye this week, but were lucky enough to have Southbridge reach out for a friendly. It turned out to be a great game, with both teams playing some excellent rugby before everyone headed into the clubrooms to enjoy some well-earned food together.

| Monday Night Girls Head to Woodend Our Monday Night Girls were invited out to Woodend this week to play a country team. It was great to see how far both sides had come since they last met earlier in the season, with some great tackling and running on display — and the CFC girls showing huge improvement along the way. The team also enjoyed getting into the clubrooms afterwards for speeches and food with their hosts. A big thank you to Woodend and Southbridge for two great games this weekend. |
|
Representative Honours for Our Girls We also have some exciting news to share from our Monday Night Girls. Ariā and Maaliah-Jay trialled and have made the 2026 Te Toka Tū O Waitaha Māori Rugby League U10s representative team. They will travel to Rotorua on 26–27 September to play in a televised tournament against regional teams from across the country. Well done, girls — we are all so proud of you!
