Welcome to the 12 August update from Christchurch Football Club, keeping you connected with all the awesome events, milestone celebrations and happenings in and around the club. |
Well another big week has been had within the club with all our senior teams gathering on Wednesday night for their team photographs and to chat over a drinks and food – great to see!. On Saturday night we hosted the pinnacle of our season our Senior Prizegiving (Netball & Rugby) and I want to thank everyone who attended and celebrated a very good 2026 season as a club. To all our prizewinners both Netball and Rugby a massive congratulations and we trust you celebrated well into the night 😊 |
| To Morne’ and his bar team, thank you for all you did on Saturday night as well as throughout the 2026 season. To Edward and his team for serving us with an awesome meal and dessert – nothing was left over, so all the food must have been good!! |
|
To Jacson our Senior Club Captain and MC on the night – you performed an exceptional job, and we thank you for all the work you did in preparing for the night. To Andre Thompson who assisted with ensuring all the certificates & placemats were printed and ready for the occasion!! Rugby on the ground saw our Colts team going down in their final against a good HSOB team. I want to thank all the players, coaches and management for their commitment, dedication and support this season as we appreciate the Colts grade has been a difficult one to play in given its make up! We hope that all players especially those “aging out” from the Colts grade will return next year and continue to wear the CFC jersey with passion!! As mentioned throughout 2026 we cannot do a lot of things without the magnificent support of all our sponsors and on behalf of all our members we thank you all & look forward to working with you again in 2027 😊 |
I want to personally thank Corey and Johnny from Tamou Contracting who provided us with their services to paint & freshen up the restaurant area as well as the wall where the new TV is positioned – your contribution to our club is noted and greatly appreciated!!

It is with sadness that we announce that we have lost another great member of our club and CFC family, John Dench. I remember John as being as a person of quality, high standards and a very sharp sense of humour!! Our thoughts and our love go to the Dench family at this sad time and on behalf of the club we thank the Dench family for sharing John with us over many years. Hello CFC Families, What a treat to have the weather turn on for a big weekend of rugby! It was fantastic to see so many home games across the grounds, and by all accounts a whole lot of fun was had by players, whānau, and supporters alike. |
| Looking ahead to this weekend, there's plenty to get excited about. Canterbury Rugby are celebrating Club Day, so keep an eye out for our players proudly pulling on their club socks in support — a great chance to show where we all come from and back the grassroots game that means so much to us. |
|
There's some extra entertainment on the cards too. At half time, be sure to stick around to watch Charlie Hamilton from our Premier Men's team line up in the Fastest Senior Club Player race. Get behind him and cheer him home — we know he'll be flying!
|
So, get out there again, and enjoy another cracking weekend of rugby. We can't wait to see you all on the sideline. The CFC Junior Rugby Committee |
